Hyaluronic acid (HA) is one of the most popular serums in India right now — and also one of the most misused. The most common complaint: "I bought HA serum and my skin feels even drier." That's a real problem, and it's caused entirely by incorrect application technique. This guide fixes it in two minutes.
Hyaluronic acid is a humectant — a molecule that attracts and holds water. One gram can hold up to 6 litres of water. When applied topically, it pulls moisture from its environment into the upper layers of skin, creating visible plumping and reducing fine lines. The problem: if there's no moisture available in the air (AC room, Delhi winter, low humidity), it pulls moisture from deeper skin layers instead — the opposite of what you want.
Applying HA to completely dry skin in an air-conditioned room. With no moisture available, HA dehydrates you from the inside out. Always apply to damp skin immediately after washing. Always seal with moisturiser within 60 seconds.
